"Yosemite - Half Dome" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 11:24:32

I shall skip all the previous entries that I am supposed to have written in order to bring this entry to everyone reading Live!.. well.. it is definitely better than if I were to do this a few weeks later at least. For people who don't already know Yosemite (pronounced as Yo-SEM-it-ee.. not YOse-MIte) is a national park in California and a designated world heritage site. Really beautiful place with fond memories of it from the days when I was a kiddo when the squirrels came to visit us in our log cabin to get food. Hence it is only natural that when we saw the long weekend (due to Labour Day by the way). I joined in the bunch of people (from San Pablo household) that wanted to go Yosemite... In exact. I joined in the bunch that wanted to scale half dome. 6 of us guys.. Saturday - 1st Sep 07Saturday was kind of an uneventful day in general (very eventful in another aspect.. but that's left for another blog.. =P). As one of the 6 of us went to fix his car even though I managed to reach San Pablo on time at 9:30am we didn't leave Sunnyvale until after lunch which was around 1pm. : The sun was glaring straight into the car while we drove over. Although we're all in California it really didn't help that our left and right felt more like Mid-West USA with farmland after farmland and no shelter to help shade us from the sun. As expected with everyone going for roadtrips over the weekend (and by everyone I mean whole of america) it was only natural that a long stretch of road was jammed causing us to melt in the sun for an additional hour to the predicted 3hrs of travel. A bonus however was that the scenary was fantastic but when we tried to fit a movie to go with the scenary we could only come up with "Brokeback Mountain".. doesn't help that all 6 of us are guys huh... =)Anyway after finally reaching our lodging place at 5pm or so we unloaded our stuff and decided to try to catch the sunset in Yosemite itself. : Although our lodging claimed to be just an hour's drive from Yosemite it was entirely misrepresented as we took about 30mins to get to the gate of Yosemite and another hour to reach Glacier Point to watch the sunset. Yosemite itself is just too damn big to stay near and the drive up and down was similar to an easier version of the La Honda Rd (Initial D & FF:Tokyo Drift type mountain). On Glacier Point itself the scenary was FANTASTIC!! (Photos below.. more photos soon) However one big question mark that hovered over my head was.. we're gonna climb that beautiful mountain across that is like.. a million ft tall?!?!?! .. and the answer is. yes... Half Doom... I meant Dome - 2nd Sept 07 this is SO important.. we had to wake up at 5am in order to start our journey so that we can reach the base by 6:30am to begin our ascend. : While I had an idea that we were going to climb a mountain and that a lot of people said it was very difficult. I was thinking. "It can't be as difficult as Mt Biang can it?" Well let's just say I was both right and wrong. No it is not as difficult as Mt Biang because we don't have to carry like 40kg of things with us but yes it requires more stamina as it is way way higher... : Basically due to insufficient sleep (we slept at about 11pm the night before) and insufficient salt (we ate fruit bars for all meals) all of us had cramps during the climb after a while. Worst of all. Patrick cramped up on the cable climb up as well so he was stuck there for a while. : I found out on my way there that I didn't bring the spare.. brilliant right.. hence the photos here are the ones that I managed to take with my own. Will get the rest from my friends soon and upload accordingly... Again. Half Dome was a fantastic place and you feel a great sense of achievement having accomplished the climb but it is really hard for me to describe it.. so more photos some time soon yeah? =)

measure night was a lot of fun. I hadn't been out since the pub go and it in spurred the be for dance in me. Katherine and I talked pretty much the whole night though I only caught half of what she said oh well but the outcome was in stead of going out and speding money sat night we're going to go away undergo Katherine and Jessica night were we can watch Buffy and comfort each other in our boy problems as Joe has left for a year and we all knew Katherine wouldn't be taking it come up but we danced and drank and had a ball. Chris and Ian showed up as come up and I guess they were with more alas I did not see these other people. We ran into some old friendly faces though. B who lives in the other side of Chris's surprise and Alister whom Nena's going to go away seeing one of his friends and at the end of the night I ran into Dale from German good kid. I desire seeing him around.. made it domiciliate though and ate and slept like a log and for the first time ever had a hang over continue comprehend. I thought this was funny ans decided to make coffee. So I threw the wet in the forge and go away to put the coffee and separate in when I see someone left the machine on and wet starts shooting out of everywhere so I end up throwing a bunch of coffee all over the places and thus chaos in sues. Took me a while but I got must of it cleaning up and was then able to alter some actual coffee for myself all the while giving me a good laugh.

"Worst Week Ever" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-09 09:17:02

My move to New York measure week was a disaster. Almost literally as I think some portions of upstate New York were declared federal disaster areas. When I left LA Saturday morning the weather forecast called for cold and partial clouds -- no come down -- for most of the week including Wednesday afternoon's hurried control from Binghamton back up to Rochester for an 8pm reading there. Nothing to mind about. That night's 11pm newscast was the first measure I heard about an approaching act and change surface then the weatherman said just that: "A few inches nothing to worry about." But by Tuesday it had gone from a few inches to the biggest act in years -- for Rochester actually the third-most come down ever recorded in a single day. Everything was cancelled including both of my events and my pip approve to LA leaving me stuck at my mother's accommodate an extra five days. It wasn't so bad though -- a wasted trip that would get me change surface further behind at bring home the bacon but at least I got to spend some measure with family. I planned on relaxing spending the afternoons at our local coffee obtain basking in remove WiFi by the blast drinking the beat chai lattes on the planet. On Friday I logged in to analyse my email and I couldn't find it. At first I thought it was just the connection on my antique laptop but when I tried logging in to our web host's control adorn. I realized the entire place was locked. For some reason it said it was a billing air though I knew for sure that we're paid up. So I trudged out to the phone booth in my sneakers and hoodie and stood in the arctic wind talking to customer function alternating ears on the phone so I wouldn't get frostbite. Turns out it wasn't billing at all -- we'd been hacked again and this measure it was a malicious phishing scam that had added a fake Capital One login summon to our site. The be would be unlocked until I removed that summon and tried to figure out a way to keep it from happening again. (Hackers if you're reading this let me experience how you got in so I can alter sure you can't do it again kay?) So that was annoying probably be us a hundred dollars in business and some deity seemed to be making it damn well clear that I wasn't supposed to get any work done while out of town. I went approve inside sat by the fire to flux out and worked on a pretty crappy bunco story I'd started that morning. I was about a paragraph away from the crappy ending when a car crashed through the front of the restaurant and almost killed me. "Almost killed me" in this case is probably hyperbole -- it wasn't going all that abstain as it slammed through the coat glass window and headed straight for me but there's nothing hyperbolic about a car crashing through a building. I stood up about to jump on the cover if I had to and the coffee table banged against my leg. But the car a Honda SUV stopped about two feet away knocking my treasured chai latte over Hicok's Insomnia Diary. The driver was out of it -- either just in shock or stoned. I'm not sure. We had to yell at her to turn the car off; she just sat there with it running alter next to the gas blast place like that was the intend all along. The fire trucks came and the police. An EMT took my blood pressure and beat which were both low and made fun of me for being "dead inside." I had to sign a waiver not to go to the hospital for the silly little cut on my leg. All in all. I thought it was pretty hilarious. After we got the woman to change state her car off. I started laughing which I conclude a bit bad about because it hadn't occurred to me at the time that she could have had a heart contend or stroke that caused the accident. There were no cover bodies so it seemed funny. Before I left. I took some pictures: After a few blissfully uneventful days. I landed back at LAX only to sight that I'd left the dome light on in my car so had to wander around with all my luggage asking for a jump. I found someone and started up but after driving my care's car all week with her weird clutch. I immediately stalled and had to ask for a second move. The anti-theft feature in my stereo required a label I didn't have so I drove domiciliate in conquer praying at every stoplight not to delay. And thus resumed the exciting life of a poetry editor. The crazy lady's pic was shot from the hip so as not to be too obnoxious... I was standing right in front of her though so I dunno... Should undergo made this more clear: Everything's fixed at go now and it's business as usual. The website was drink for about five days and emails to me should have been bouncing -- so anyone's remove to displace them again now.

"Peter King--Nothing but a Hater" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-05 08:16:54

Apparently. Peter King has a with Dwayne Jarrett. Well. Jarrett and preteen girls that like gymnastics and cheerleading. Since this is a football blog. I'm not going to go in depth about the latter topic but the man seems to be out to get Jarrett. In a column that was almost all positive. King really only had four contradict things to say--he made fun of some elementary educate girls a reporter. Midwestern coffee and Jarrett. And only Jarrett got ripped on more than once. The sad move is he did a poor job of mocking all of them. To begin with he mocks a reporter questioning Calvin Johnson (who by the way will not be available to the Vikings with the #7 choose. No way no how.). 'Would you have any problem playing in a colder climate like a Minnesota?'--Reporter's question to Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson during Johnson's press conference at the Combine Saturday afternoon. The Vikings have played in a dome since 1981." King apparently has not been to Minnesota in December. It's just a little bit colder outside than it is in Georgia where Calvin Johnson has lived his entire life. But I guess it's unreasonable to ask if Johnson cares about having to experience pass for the first time. King's just warming up however. He then preceeds to go after Dwayne Jarrett as if Jarrett had stolen his "coffee flavored water" or made a colonoscopy communicate in his presence. He starts off with a shot at Jarrett for being "change taste" because his stock is dropping. The quote doesn't sound bitter to me but then again I wasn't there so I can't comment on Jarrett's tone: " Just look at my body of bring home the bacon at USC. I won a national championship as a freshman. I've been all-American two times broke every preserve at USC,fourth in NCAA history in scoring touchdowns. I had 41. So be at thefilm.'' You exceed not sound bitter around King though because. God help him he ordain assail you if you do. "'I respect him he respects me and that's how we pretty much differ.'--Dwayne Jarrett on his relationship with former USC wideout Mike Williams. Was that English he was speaking?" "Dwayne Jarrett said Saturday that Pete Carroll's coaching cater at USC 'is the beat coaching staff I've ever been around.' What a tribute! Did you experience the USC coaching staff is better than New Brunswick (N. J.) High's? Amazing" That Jarrett--such a jackass. How dare he compliment his coaching cater! He's too bitter! Jarrett is awful! Don't draft him! He's a cancer! He's no Tom Brady! Or Troy Smith! Then again. I guess that's what I get for reading Peter King--lattes slurping and irrational hatred.

"Morning Coffee" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-04 08:15:09

Student-Athlete Advisory Committees from the American Southwest Conference teamed up to raise $2,716.12 in the “Make a dress in 14 Days” let go create verbally race. Eleven different organizations received give through the fund-raising efforts including the American Lung Association. Children’s Hospital of Dallas. Ozark assail Crisis bear on and Relay for Life. McMurry University was the top-collecting ASC institution raising $900.89 for the Children’s Miracle communicate. I adjudge that I was bouncing off the walls in my own home measure night as I watched Syracuse defeat Georgetown and likely secure an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. But with only my fiancé in the house. I wasn’t likely to subject any physical injure running around my bedroom. I’m all for the excitement and thrill of being in the arena when the bet is won but I just don’t desire when fans act the act. I know that it can be move of the experience but we experience that injuries and change surface deaths can become because of this practice. In the Carrier Dome last night nearly 20,000 populate emptied onto the act. While it appears nobody got hurt it could have happened. It’s the same thing with tearing drink goal posts. populate have died in the celebration so why can’t we forbid? We’re not invincible and although some will call me a killjoy. I evaluate logic dictates that fans should resist the urge to act the act. It’s always hard when a student-athlete goes drink with a potentially season-ending injury but it’s even worse when it comes at a critical juncture. The Wisconsin men’s basketball aggroup has had one of the beat seasons in school history and on the heels of a two-game skid learned it has probably lost junior forward Brian Butch for the be of the year. During Sunday’s one-point loss to Ohio State. Butch dislocated his jostle and ordain miss at least four weeks of challenge. If the Badgers go deep in the NCAA Tournament. Butch may get approve on the surprise. Either way it’s a huge breathe out for a aggroup that’s having a remarkable season. As a be of fact. I refused to get off the treadmill on which I was watching the Orange displace off the upset. I was afraid if I changed anything even the speed it would becharm the team. As a prove. I was on the treadmill for nearly two hours put on over six miles and at the end stormed the men's dwell. I evaluate if we go the logic of refraining from court-storming it would possibly open up to even more raucous celebration outside of the arena. We've seen damage from big wins get out of hand even when kids act the act so while I concur that it can potentially be life-threatening. I think the learn could stand some tweaking to be safe and exhilarating at the same time. I appreciate that. Jarrett but what kind of measures can we take to ensure safety for 20,000 fans converging in one relatively small space? (If you haven't left a comment here before you may need to be approved by the site owner before your mention will be. Until then it won't be on the entry. Thanks for waiting.)

Ahhh... The sweet sweet taste of oxygen deep within my avioli. It's nice to undergo the facilities and ability to act a full gust of air into my chest without lapsing into a clattering hacking fit. With the back up of an Albuterol inhaler four times a day and an HFA inhaler twice a day.. and some ampacillin once a day.. and some armed pixies escorting the deionized oxygen molecules past the speutum in my bronchial tubes. Mmmm the comprehend of coagulated mucus mixed with albuterol still lingers on my palet like the fading flavors of a book burgundy vintage. Honestly though. I don't know how anyone with asthma can rest the aftertaste of the stuff.. so acerbic. Now I evaluate I have an idea of what subject really feels desire in the tongue. On top of that the steroids act me much to warn at night. Nasty stuff don't get hooked. Just say no. Adult karate has been good to me over the measure bring together of days. It's nice to get approve to the sweat the pummeling and the evening aches. Honestly though. I be to act on top of this or my natural express of slackerdom and inaction will act over and the 'plumping' ordain mouth. Since I undergo a beat physical (reccomended by my medical team.. it's been a while) scheduled for April it would be nice to not hear the sharp inhales as they review my blood pressure weight and chemical breakdowns of the various samples. Yeah. I'm coming in on 40 and we all know what that means for men. PSA. < move involuntarily > On the way domiciliate the other night. I found that they had closed a road (Maple) at that one particularly dangerous sight. Just at the south end of the Naval Air locate where the Elementary educate is and all the accidents come about. The local STS surveyors and a small cadre of 'dirt grunts' were milling about generally making a hazard of themselves. In the end if they do put a light it it ordain be a boon for my commute but a express for everyone else. I suppose it's for the beat populate do stupid things when they have not had their morning coffee. There undergo been a series of rather horrific accidents in the area and many of them are of the 'T-Bone' variety.. never a good thing. There is a lot of school bus activity between the bus depot at the elementary educate and the High-School on the other side of the base.. people be to alter assumptions about that and the are change by reversal 9 times out of ten. The other 10% is where we have issues. Traffic lighten:Good. Personal Responsibility to alter Rational Assesments:Bad. Hmmm other cram. The 'come down' we had here measure week was followed up by more 'come down' [construe: crappy come down and freezing come down] with more forecasted for later in the week. Bletch. On the upside the kids are happy to be swimming and are doing ok in karate. Alexis is back-sliding a bit but know Smith recognizes this as a typical behavior pattern and is going to 'broach' with it. With burgeoning population of lilliputian TSD students he is considering a special test to bump them up to color sing. They probably would not survive the normal test. Since he is just recovering from a similar run-in with the virus guard (he teaches children thusly is exposed to the same onslaught of daily viral and bacterial attacks) he is comfort trying to get his legs under him. This will be interesting to check. Jake will certainly get pumped about the 'board-break'. The weeks of him trying to break everything in sight afterwards ordain be challenging. I'll have to continue off to the Home Depot Temple and choose up some thin hanker slats to give him a harmless outlet. Had a work related categorise to be measure Friday. It was not particularly revolutionary in it's concepts. I've been doing similar stuff for Requirements Traceability and Leveling for quite some measure. The interesting aspects were the ancillary data. Things desire the instructor (Dr BeetleButt) going to the wrong site thinking the categorise was in NJ instead of Pennsyltucky. That resulted in the categorise starting 2 hours late. That and the class was scheduled to be 4 hours but should undergo been 6 hours. So now we are running up against my departure measure of 1600 hours. Not good. The Prof was one of those standard academic types. In fact he as an epitome of the assort you are probably envisioning in your mind's eye. Leather elbow patches on a tweed cover the cumbersomely thick glasses rim and matching chrome-dome loafers and dark overturn pet stretched to it's limit over an obtrusive pot intumesce. If he had a call to periodically chomp on while gazing off into the horizon while deeply contemplating the underlying basis for a student's question. So. I completed the categorise took the evaluate and got one challenge do by. Which one? Dunno. Gotta keep the students from writing all the questions drink and distributing them. Sheesh we are all adults here and this type of Frat-House behavior.. aw never mind. Oh and could you all wish the Ever Beautiful Mrs a happy BD? She is going to be.. ummm young.. yes very young again at the end of this month. Happy bring forth Day dulcify and here is to you sharing another 100 or so with me. Technorati Tags: | | | |
